Hello there, climate deniers. One question: Why? I mean, what’s in it for the climate hoaxers? Whether or not the climate is changing, what’s in it for any climatologist to tell us about it. Really. Think about that for a second, or two. It’s kind of along the same lines as astronomers predicting eclipses. And looking back, those celestial predictions came in super handy to anyone looking to leverage the gullibility factor the human race: some shaman or priestly bloke gets the low-down on an eclipse, and he gathers a crowd to watch him make the sun disappear. Nothing better to build up the god-cred or the coffers.
It’s not magic. It’s opportunity!
And that is exactly what the ‘Climate Crisis’ is: opportunity!
The climate is changing. That is not a hoax. It is quantifiable. We can see it with our own eyes, just like an eclipse. We humans may or may not have something to do with the change, or rate of change, but the fact is, it is changing! It has always been changing, just like eclipses have always been happening. The difference between eclipse hoaxers (AKA scammers) and climate hoaxers, is that humans have seen through the eclipse charade, and know that no matter how hard they stomp around the fire and shout ooga booga at the sky, or pay tribute to the local eclipse hoaxer, the eclipse will come, and it will go.
Sure, humans have nothing to do with eclipses. And who knows what, or how much, effect humans have on climate change, but that is truly not the point here. The point is, and this is the trillion-dollar question: can humans do anything about it?
Does anyone really believe that a tiny fraction of humanity, usually in affluent states and neighbourhoods, can change the climate by recycling their tins and paying a wee carbon tax on who-knows-what?
No, it’s bollocks! Anyone with enough sentience to even consider climate change or CO2 levels knows it doesn’t make a drop in the ocean’s difference, what they do with their bins or bobbins. Not to the climate, anyway. They may, on the other hand, have a disturbing inkling of what it would really take to make any difference at all, and that scares the shite out of them. It also stirs up a bit of that privilege-guilt, survivor-guilt, call it what you want dysphoria, and that makes sleeping at night a wee problematic. So, in come the climate hoaxers, they have what you need. A carbon tax, a tithe, an ooga booga dance around the fire to make you feel like you are doing something about ‘the problem’ and you can drive your SUV and consume to your heart’s content. And therein sits the crux of the matter: those that heed the climate crisis criers, that pay them like Benedictine monks to clean them of sin, won’t listen to anything but the ooga booga that we can fix this ‘problem’ by all paying whatever body is making a fortune from absolving us of our climate sins.
There are simply no ways we humans can affect the course of climate change, short of total, thermonuclear war and its ensuing nuclear winter.
Reality time, and we all know the efficacy of ritualistically paying for absolution: could we stop producing any greenhouse gasses, right now, climate change would march right along. We may or may not have started it, but it makes not one jot of difference at this time. We’re not at a crossroads. We are at the end of the road. There’s a line, a tipping point, and anyone with any sense knows we’ve crossed it.
The only way to do anything to maybe change the course of climate change is:
- Stop burning fossil fuels
- Stop cutting down trees
- Stop eating meat
- Stop polluting
- Stop burning anything
- Stop reproducing
There is no way it is going to happen.
